Learning Patterns on Illustrator

These are just basic patterns produced on illustrator, not much colour is added and i was just focusing on making the patterns.
When I have produced strong patterns I will then focus on colour.

Rotate tool and Spot repeat half drop pattern
Using 1 motif: The wheel out of the casette

Rotate tool and Spot repeat half drop pattern
Using 3 motifs: Eject symbol, Pause symbol, Fast Forward symbol

Transform Each tool to achieve the different sizes and then Spot Repeat pattern
Using the wheel out of the Cassette.

Rotate tool  and then spot repeat pattern.
Using for motifs: Eject, Fast-Forward, Rewind and Pause symbols.

First I played with the scale of the Play symbol, to create the jagged arrow. It is then transformed with the rotate tool and put into a half drop spot repeat pattern.

Brick Spot Repeat pattern using the Cassette Tape.

Fast-Forward and Rewind Symbols and been stuck together with the Pathfinder Tool.
Then placed in a half drop spot repeat pattern.

Transform each spot pattern

Symbol Sprayer tool, changing the scale, transparency and rotation.

These are the motifs I will be using for creating my patterns in Illustrator, the cassette tape was made using the pen tool and the rest of the motifs were created with just using vertor shape tool.

Mood board for Illustrator

For my illustrator designs I want to focus on a more futuristic look and trying to achieve the glowing look by using a dark background, changing the opacity, and once again using different tones of the same colour.

My inspiration came from the fashion designer Alexander McQueen with his Spring 2010 ready-to-wear collection. I like how his colours glow and they have the futuristic, symmetrical look.

Four finals

These are the four finals which I will narrow down to three...

Further Developments for Final Designs

These are the different variations for my final designs.

With this first design variations I have changed the colours and adding the symbol pattern into the ipod screen.

With this symbol pattern I have just changed just changed the background colour to the peach tone to see how it worked with the other designs as a collection.

This first design is the third design that i submitted for formative, I got feedback that it would look better if I show how the pattern would repeat happen.
It was also pointed out that on my other designs I have used tones of the same colours where as this one is more flat.
I have resolved this design by making it more of a repeat pattern and have replaced the cassette tape with the ipod motif.

This was a fourth design I created after the formative,  it is simply just two layers of the same pattern at different scales and placed on top of each other, the top layer has had the transparency lowered so you can see the bigger scale ipod pattern underneath.
